Import formats:
TypeTool can directly open the following font format files and supports up to 64 000 characters:

• Opentype (*.otf) (OpenType features cannot be edited!)
• PC/Mac Type 1 (*.pfb, *.pfa) (only the MAC version can open Mac files)
• PC/Mac TrueType (*.ttf) (only the MAC version can open Mac files, features of ttf based OpenType fonts cannot be edited)
• All FontLab files files starting at version 2.5 (*.vfa, *.vfb)

Also TypeTool can import several file types:

• EPS (*.ai, *.eps) (only lines and curves can be imported).
• Metric files (*.afm, *.pfm) can be loaded for processing of metrics information.
• Text files can be used to load sample strings to simplify metrics editing.

Export formats:
With TypeTool you can save the following font format files:

• OpenType (*.otf). Note: Editing of advanced typographic OpenType Layout features is not possible.
• PC/Mac Type 1 (*.pfb, *.pfa) (only the MAC version can save Mac files)
• PC/Mac TrueType (*.ttf) (only the MAC version can save Mac files)
• FontLab native format (*.vfb)

Also TypeTool can export the following file types:

• EPS (*.ai, *.eps).
• Metric files (*.afm, *.pfm) can be saved.
