Import formats:
FontLab can directly open the following font format files and supports up to 64000 characters:
- PC/Mac Type 1 and Multiple Master (*.pfb, *.pfa) (only the MAC version can open Mac files)
- PC/Mac TrueType (*.ttf) including most OpenType tables (only the MAC version can open Mac files)
- OpenType (*.otf)
- all FontLab files starting at version 2.5 (*.vfa, *.vfb)
Also FontLab can import several file types:
- Level 2 and Level 3 EPS (*.ai, *.eps) (only lines and curves can be imported).
- Bitmap files (*.bmp, *.dib, *.tif) can be loaded as background images (also through Windows clipboard).
- Metric files (*.mmm, *.afm, *.pfm) can be loaded for processing of metrics information.
- Glyph class files (*.flc) can be loaded to simply the process of grouping characters.
- Import of feature definition files (*.fea) simplfy the process of building OpneType features.
- Text files can be used to load sample strings to simplify metrics and hinting editing.
Export formats:
With FontLab you can save the following font format files:
